Reston, Va., 9 November 1999 - The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is pleased to announce that Daniel P. Raymer, President, Conceptual Research Corporation, Sylmar, CA, is the recipient of the 2000 AIAA Summerfield Book Award.
The Summerfield Book Award is named in honor of Dr. Martin Summerfield, founder and initial editor of the Progress in Astronautics and Aeronautics series of books published by the AIAA. The award is presented to the author of the best book recently published by the AIAA. Criteria for selection include quality and professional acceptance as evidenced by impact on the field, citations, classroom adoptions and sales.
The award, which consists of an engraved bronze medal, certificate of citation, and an honorarium, will be presented to Mr. Raymer on 11 January 2000 during the 38th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit at the Reno Hilton, Reno, Nevada. The award will be presented to Mr. Raymer, "For his book, Aircraft Design: A Conceptual Approach, which presents both students and practicing designers a comprehensive exposition of the aircraft design process from initial conceptual layouts to final design decisions, covering every phase of design."
